Dr Kartikeya Acharya, (Karthik) is a design researcher, interaction designer and architect. As founder and director of Delectro, he catalyses his studio’s and startup’s mission by collaboratively seeking and shaping opportunities from the ongoing energy transition to make it purposeful and meaningful by design. He has over two decades of international professional design, art and research experience. Before moving to Australia he was design faculty at Aarhus University in Denmark. He defended his doctorate from the Department of Design at Aalto University Helsinki in Finland, was visiting researcher at the CTO of Fortum, the Finnish state energy utility corporation and has worked as field researcher at Nokia Research Center, India. He has a masters degree in interaction design (HCI) from Domus Academy and Interaction Design Institute at Milan, Italy and a bachelors degree in architecture from Manipal School of Architecture and Planning, in India. A recipient of many awards and grants, he received the prestigious Kone Art Foundation grant in 2016, the Design Connections Doctoral Research Grant in 2010 and was awarded the Nokia University Collaboration grant in 2009. He is currently Associate Editor of the new Energy Transitions journal and a member of the Design Research Society, UK. He has published his research and writings in peer reviewed publications on design, HCI and energy studies in international conferences, journals and invited book publications. His works as design researcher, artist and curator have been exhibited in Finland, France, UK, Italy and India.
